Dedicated to Excellence in Forensic Science
WCMEA | Wisconsin Coroners and Medical Examiners Association
The mission of the Wisconsin Coroners and Medical Examiners Association:
To establish and promote standardized professional practice among coroners, medical examiners and their staff as set forth by accepted operational guidelines. To draft and advance legislation which facilitates standardized professional practice and administration of the office for the safety and well being of the citizenry, and to deter any legislation that is detrimental to this mission or Association.
Our Mission and Vision
We advocate for improved resources and funding to support the forensic sciences and ensure that our members have access to the latest tools and training. By enhancing the scientific rigor and procedural consistency of death investigations, we help safeguard the public’s trust in the criminal justice system, ensuring that no stone is left unturned when determining the cause and manner of death.
Our vision is to be a recognized leader in death investigation across the nation, setting the benchmark for excellence and ethical practice. We aspire to create a future where every coroner, medical examiner, and death investigator in Wisconsin is fully supported, well-trained, and equipped to perform their vital duties with confidence and competence. We envision a community where the public has complete trust in the work we do and understands the critical role we play in the criminal justice system. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we aim to ensure that Wisconsin remains at the forefront of death investigation practices, upholding the highest standards in service to our state’s residents.
At the WCMEA, we are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by the tragic loss of a loved one, while continuously striving to uphold the values of justice, compassion, and professionalism.
